Training -cum- technology demonstration of Zero Tillage Pea Under NICRA Project Organized By ICAR-KVK, Ri Bhoi.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri Bhoi, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam conducted training cum technology demonstration programme on zero tillage pea var. Prakash on the 1st December 2015 at Kyrdem village under the NICRA project. The training was conducted in order to impart skilled based knowledge on the technology to the farmers. Generally, farmers follow monocropping of rice and the field remained fallow during rabi season. Therefore, in order to enhance the cropping intensity of the village and to utilize the residual soil moisture and existing crop residue of the first crop, zero tillage pea technology was introduced through training cum demonstration. The zero tillage technology demonstration would help the farmers in terms of additional yield and income with less cost, labour, improve soil health with the utilization of residual moisture and organic matter. About 20 farmers from Kyrdem and nearby villages were participated in the training cum technology demonstration programme. The participants of NICRA and neighbouring village were very happy and would take this technology in their own field.
